About Temple University, The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry

The mission of The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry is to promote oral health through the education of diverse general and specialty dentists with advanced skills who provide comprehensive, patient-centered, evidence-based care, and engage in research, scholarly activities and community service.

The Kornberg School of Dentistry is a center for excellence in clinical dental education, patient care, and community-based service and research.

The goals of the School of Dentistry are to:

  • The School will recruit, admit and graduate a broadly diverse student population in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and academic background.
  • Our dental students and dentists in postdoctoral programs will have advanced skills to provide comprehensive, patient-centered and evidence-based care.
  • Our faculty and students engage in research and scholarly activities to develop new knowledge and use the best available scientific evidence in education and patient care.
  • TUKSoD dental students receive diverse experiences through outreach to community-based clinics.
  • TUKSoD clinics are community-focused in order to provide dental care for more patients in underserved populations.

Continuing Education Mission

To develop and enhance a continuing education program for Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry consisting of educational activities designed to review existing concepts and techniques, to convey information beyond the basic dental education and to update knowledge on advances in dental and medical science.


  • To improve the knowledge, skills and ability of the individual to deliver the highest quality of service to the public and profession
  • To enrich past dental educational experiences
  • To incorporate current knowledge into the practice of dentistry
  • To establish a premier program at Temple that will merit broad recognition from the surrounding community as well as from within the academic dental education establishment.

Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry designates this activity for said number of continuing education credit.
